OTO ＝ Open Translation Office ＝ （上海）开放翻译社

Shanghai OTO is a translation-oriented website, and also a team specialized in translation and interpretation between major languages such as Chinese, English and Japanese (the top 3 major languages currently used in China, especially in Shanghai) as well as other minor languages like Russian, Korean, German, French, Spanish, etc.

Shanghai OTO is named after my own first name 开放 (Kaifang), which means "open". I am pretty proud of this name because it coincides with our national policy -- opening to the outside world, a policy that has been bringing vigor, hope and power and prosperity to this ancient land.

Shanghai OTO is based in Shanghai, a city that is probably the most dymanic, most promising, most ambitious, most colorful, most internationalized and fastest growing area nationally(or even globally in the near future). Therefore, we are proud of our geographical advantages.

Shanghai OTO has woven a highly efficient global network which comprises thousands of professional translators who are experienced specialists with proven expertise in both languages and certain specialized fields. Some are members of translators associations, Some are returned students, and some are native target language (English or Japanese) speakers. We can also access our partners' talents banks which contain hundreds of professional translators. Thus we can make timely response to the requests from the clients worldwide.

The animated logo on the homepage of this site looks “cool”，doesn't it?

The conception of this logo embodies the following implications in terms of its shape and spirit:

1. The two rotating globes symbolize the two rapidly changing worlds：the Orient and the Occident, and meanwhile resemble the two "O"s in "OTO".
2. The dancing "T" between the two globes refers to the word “translation”, and meanwhile corresponds to the letter "T" in "OTO".
3. The whole logo suggests that the two worlds (the English-speaking occidental world and the Japanese-speaking oriental world) are united through the medium of OTO（as a Shanghai-based English-Chinese-Japanes inter-translating agency and also a representative of the Chinese-speaking world)，hence gaining driving power for acceleration.
